"Daddy?"

The little girls sweet voice echoed down the hall, her father's feline ear pricked at the sound, and he sat up from his bed.  He exited his warm berth and walked down the hall, so he could tend to his angel.

"Yes Kaiu?  Is something wrong?" He asked in a light tone, his red eyes shining brightly in the pitch dark room.  Kaiu's own, deep lavender eyes dimly glowed as well, peering up at her father's more animalistic eyes, like a cat.

"I'm cold" She admitted in a small but cute voice.  She was always shy when she spoke, since she usually remained quiet and normally would just giggle and play.

Her father gave a small nod, "I will get a few extra blankets, I will be right back."  He turned and went back up the hall, to his own room closet and picked out a few warm blankets for her.

"W-Wait!...Daddy?..." Kaiu said in her tiny voice just before her father left her room.  He must have not heard her, despite his keen hearing.  She sighed and looked down at her little hands, pale and delicate, like her mother's were.  When her daddy returned, she saw the blankets and frowned.

"Mommy would always snuggle with me when I was cold...she would stay until I fell back to sleep." She pouted softly, her voice slightly wavering.  She severely missed her Momma.

The man's cat ears went down, and he looked at the floor, he did not want to upset his sweet daughter, and since his mate was no longer around he did everything that Kaiu asked of him, taking the role as her mother.  It was very difficult for him, due to his work, but he paid no mind; Kaiu was a child, she didn't understand how hard it all was on him.  He didn't blame her for her 'selfishness', since she was so young, and he hid his own emotions very well.
He softly sighed and went over to her bed, he laid out the blankets over her covers, and kissed his little love's forehead softly.  He could tell how she was still sad, even though it had been months since she lost her mum, but he still felt great pain as well.  Levitica was the one that kept their little family together, she was always cheerful, despite her sickness and other illness.  They both depended on her to be happy, but then that day happened, and he did everything he could to keep from breaking down as he explained to his little Kaiu what had happened, but he cursed himself for letting his darling see him cry and bawl, as if he were a child like her.  They both remembered how much they cried that day, and the days after.  But Kaiu had noticed how he immediately took on the role of her mother, he was never distant from her, like before when he did nothing but work and eat with them during meals. Now he was always with her, and always had her in his watch.
The child's father wiped those little tears away from her soft face and gently shushed her, to cease her cute sniffles.  He ran a hand through her light blue hair and had a faint, soothing smile, to comfort her.

"If she has done so, then I shall as well..." He whispered sweetly, before lifting up the little girl's covers and sliding into her bed.  He wrapped his arms around that fragile little body, and pulled her close to his chest.  He lightly purred when he felt his daughters hands clutch his shirt, he kissed her head a few times and rubbed her back soothingly.  Kaiu sniffled a little, but was happy that her father was there for her and was comforting her.  She never said so, but inside she was thankful that he began to take care of her and keep her in his focus at all times.  The little girl kissed her daddy's chin and rested her forehead on his shoulder, before closing her eyes.

Soon the man could tell that little Kaiu was asleep, from the sound of her deepened breathing, and he decided to stay with her, to keep his angel safe from any fears she had. He sighed and looked down at her sweet sleeping face, he could see the resemblance between her and her mother.  Kaiu had Levitica's eyes, her smile, and even her more human-like appearance.  But she also had her mother's fear, her worry, and angst, yet also her patience and affectionate personality.  She had her father's nose, his cheekbones, his chin, and his senses, his cautiousness, and silence.  A perfect mix between Levitica and himself, she had no animal-like features, like a tail or claws, and her ears looked human.
He felt her little body shift around, and soon her back was against his chest, and she was curled up.  He chuckled and stroked her hair softly.  His mind wandered and soon he was remembering everything that had happened since he met Levitica.
He remembered when he was assigned as her familiar, and he had gone against his oath, and against the law of the familiar, and gained strong feelings for her, yet he hid those feelings, like all of his other emotions, he held them back and kept a stoic and quiet attitude.  He remembered how once he was injured, that Levitica would tend to him later that evening, and they would preform a healing ritual, that most witches would do if their familiar's had gotten injured.  He remembered that he could tell that Levitica had grown deep feelings for him as well.  She had asked him if the only reason he was with her was because it was his duty, and he had made a mistake and said yes.  He had never seen Levitica so hurt, and though he acted as if he were asleep, he knew how hard she sobbed that night.  He remembered when she tried to confront him, he told her it was best for them to no longer be affiliated with each other, and she cried right in front of him for the first time. He had kissed her, and then backed away.  He tried to explain how dangerous it was if she grew attached to him, that she would get hurt.  She didn't care, she begged him...  Then for days she would not speak, or eat.  The day he was going to leave the only word she had said was goodbye, and she sounded so broken.  He cursed himself, and only hours after he had left, he ran back to her home, he couldn't bare to leave her, especially with what his last words to her were.  He went back and they stayed together, they loved each other, neither of them cared about the 'code'...
Tears welled up in his eyes as he remembered everything, especially that night, decades ago, when he had gone back to her, just to see if she was alright, to find that she was not, that she was aching.  He squeezed his eyes shut and cursed himself for crying, especially while holding his beloved daughter...  He gave a silent sob and cursed himself for hurting Levitica that much so many years ago, though he knew she had forgiven him that same night, but he still remembered everything...
Kaiu began to wake at the sound of a mewl behind her.  She opened her eyes and rolled over, to see a white cat laying in her bed behind her.  She smiled, knowing her father must have changed forms while asleep.  She then noticed that the cat was trembling, and...crying?!

"Daddy!?" She gasped before pulling him close, kissing his little head.  "Don't cry Daddy, don't cry." She said worriedly and hugged her father's feline form, hearing soft mewls and yowls of sadness.  She frowned and pet him gently, wanting him to at least wake up from whatever dream he was having. She had only seen him cry once before, and it was when her mother was dead.  But why was he crying now? Did she accidentally elbow him or hurt him while she was asleep?  Kaiu whimpered, not knowing what to do.

...Was he crying for her?...

Kaiu used to be a playful and bubbly little girl, always talkative and she loved whatever attention she received, and she never begged for unnecessary attention. Ever since her mother left though, she had been distant and quiet.  She never played how she used to and she was always by herself.  She held back whenever she wanted to cry, so she wouldn't draw any attention to herself, now she never wanted to interact, but whenever Muhal or Avril offered to play, she forced a sweet smile and pretended to play happily.  She was becoming how her father had always been, quiet and sullen, keeping her real emotions hidden from others.  She shook her head and sniffled.

"Daddy...y-you don't need to cry, if you're crying because of Momma, she's all better now, she isn't sick anymore Daddy... I-I'm sad and miss Mommy too but please don't cry...go back to being my strong daddy please?  I-If you didn't want to snuggle you could've just said so...a-and you don't have to be my mommy and daddy if it's too hard!..." She tried to figure out why he was crying, but somehow she knew it had to do with Levitica.  She felt herself begin to lightly cry, and she just laid there and pet her fathers little head and scratch his back, to try to comfort him.

Kaiu's father woke up to the sound of her daughter talking. Talking to him?  He realized he had been crying in his sleep and he mewled again.  He could hear every word she said, but then he noticed that she started to cry, her words and little choked up voice breaking his heart.  His ears went back and he opened his tear-filled eyes.  He immediately changed into his humanoid form and pulled his daughter close, kissing her head over and over, his worry had taken over his sadness.  He spoke soothing words to his little darling.

"Shhhh... I know that Momma's alright now, and I know how much you miss her and even though you never say so I know you're still sad too...Never will I leave you alone when you are cold, or hurt, or lonely, never...  It may be difficult but it is worth seeing you feel good, and not feel like now that she's gone means that she's never around you.  I will always hold my little Kaiu and as long as I live I will always try to make her at least the slightest bit happier..." He spoke softly, and stroked her long soft hair.  He had tears rolling down his cheeks as well, but he kept a faint, soft smile.  He just wanted for the both of them to be happy.

Kaiu rubbed her eyes with tiny fists and looked up into her father's bright red eyes, and she hugged his neck tightly, burying her cute face in the crook of his neck.  Kaiu and her father held each other that night, and they talked, about what they remember about Levitica, funny moments, or sweet moments.  Occasionally Kaiu would giggle, and occasionally she would cry, but her father held her the entire time and comforted his sweet daughter, knowing that Levitica was happy that he was so close to his little girl, and that they actually laughed together and kept each other company... Wherever she was she admired how their bond was more like father and daughter, and also like best friends.
Wrote this today, thought it was cute and VOILA! It is posted!

I realize I didn't use the father's name, I did it for a reason. I was trying a different writing tactic...But I WAS RUNNING OUT OF PRONOUNS....

So of course here is another little story I wrote, I write so many one-shot cute fluffy stories I do not know WHAT I will do with myself....

But anyway, this is obviously focused around Kaiu and her father's(mainly her father's) recent struggle.

I hope you like it ^^ If you find any spelling/grammar mistakes please tell me ._,

Kaiu and her father are my OC's, if you use them you better fucking give credit xD
