Ponder -1-

    Zasca lay in his bed silently, pondering what he had overheard Tallhei and Cortex discussing.  There might be a war soon?  Zasca could not cease such wonders from polluting his mind, he just could not imagine such things to be true.  The thought of blood spilling over the still-recovering ground of Planet Sera -where the previous Great War had taken place almost a century ago- made him uneasy.  The Great War had wiped out almost all of the Serans, leaving that planet lonely with almost no inhabitants but the wildlife, and the ruins of the cities. He did not know it all by experience though, he had only listened while Lord Cortex taught him of the all that had gone on, and listened while Lux shared his experience when fighting in the war.   Zasca was sickened by simply imagining what he was told, it was not a war to be proud of.  Lux had a hard time speaking of the war, he looked ashamed when he spoke of the battles and what they had done, and was visibly nauseated by what he witnessed.  
    Zasca shuddered, shaking his head in hopes of shaking away the dark clouds of his thoughts.  He sat up and let the covers slide down from his shoulders and scratched the back of his head, looking around the dark moon.  His quiet eyes trailed around to look at his bed, it was too large for a thin servant like himself; he felt as if he did not deserve such a large bed and even this room as his quarters.  He never felt as if he deserved such treatment from his sire.  He was merely a servant, but why was he treated so respectfully by Cortex, a royal of the Triad, the Alphas? Nobody else treated him as equally as Cortex did.  It was as if Cortex knew something about him that no one else knew.  Zasca was very curious about such things, everyone either called him 'servant boy' or just 'boy', not by his name, just by his class.  A servant... who had elfish ears and was as pale and dully colored as a rain-filled cloud.
   He stepped down off of his bed and went into his bathroom, walking to the mirror on his wall, it was just a small vanity mirror, big enough to just see his visage.  He examined how he looked, running a hand through his fine, dark grey-blue hair, it was nearly collar-length.  Zasca examined his own pale skin, with an almost icy tint to it.  His soft lavender eyes were the main features of his that stood out, other than his elf-like ears and odd nose, which had almost no arch.  He also thought of his nose to be strange, it was not like the typical common Vlatikan, and nothing close to a Harenafur.  He overall did not look like a Vlatikan at all, and he knew the Harenafur were of their own distinct race but what was he? He sighed and went to get himself a drink. Crawling back into his bed after drinking a glass of cool water, and closing his eyes, he decided to quiet his never-ending curiosities for the night; in order to save them for the morning.
